Facilitator Certification Program

This year-long journey is designed for dedicated Right Use of Power community members who have completed the foundational training and are ready to learn how to facilitate the Basics and Core curriculum - not just the content, but also with the heart of a power-conscious facilitator.

With practical tools, embodied practices, collaborative model-making, skill-building, consciousness-raising, and connected experiences, we create a container for each of us to bring our whole selves to this collaborative learning environment.

Program Elements

Live Training Sessions

Five live training sessions will be held throughout the year. Each session will be 4.5 hours long with a half-hour break.

Live training sessions will have different facilitation teams of two RUPI faculty members so you will have the opportunity to learn from a diversity of perspectives.

Like all of our training programs, these live training sessions will be full of experiential exercises, connection and embodied learning.

These live training days are reserved primarily for a deep dive into the Basics and Core training elements. We want to ensure that you are confident in your ability to teach both of these foundational RUPI training offerings so that you can begin on the journey toward becoming RUPI Faculty or to teach it on your own.

Asynchronous Modules

Along with the live course content you will explore 9 modules of an asynchronous course that includes:

  • Recorded video content
  • Transcripts
  • Handouts
  • Quizzes

You will be responsible for completing particular modules before their corresponding live integration sessions.

Live Integration Sessions

There are 8 Live Integration Sessions that are designed to help you integrate and deepen your learning from the asynchronous content.

Bring your questions and come ready to connect and experientially explore the content.

Pods

Pods are the most important part of the program. You will meet with a small group along with Pod Facilitators to learn, practice and demonstrate your comprehension and integration of the material.

There are a total of 8 Pod Sessions throughout the year. Each is 2 hours long.

Online Group Discussions

Your program cohort will have their own group on our website where you can post documents, photos and discussions. Once you make individual connections, you can also directly message the other cohort participants.

Faculty will occasionally post discussion prompts to deepen your learning and connection.

Mentoring

You will be given 4, 1:1 Mentoring Sessions (about 1 hour in length) throughout the program.

You will get to review a list of mentor bios and choose your top three mentors that correspond to your preferences and interests. We will then assign you a mentor according to your interest and the mentors' availability.

Evaluation

We will use a variety of methods to evaluate your comprehension of content, acquisition of skills, and integration and embodiment of RUP concepts. These methods include evaluation of:

  • Presentations in Pods
  • Quizzes in the Asynchronous Modules
  • 2-page Reflection Papers
  • Attendance & Completion
  • Presence & Comportment
  • Final Warrior ExamĀ

Post-Program Elements

Certification Membership & License

Graduates may apply for a Certified Practitioner License. It authorizes you to teach the full Basics and Core curriculum through your own business: you schedule, promote, host and register participants yourself. You can also weave RUP concepts into your own trainings and bring them to your clients, including ongoing engagements with client organizations, alongside other frameworks you already use.

The license is an annual sliding-scale fee based on your practice’s revenue. It ranges from $450/yr (under $50K) to $3,300/yr ($500K and above), payable annually or monthly. There’s no revenue share on programs you run yourself.

RUPI offers four license types, sized to how deeply you engage with the curriculum:

  • Affiliate: for coaches, therapists and consultants who reference RUP alongside other frameworks
  • Certified Practitioner: for graduates offering RUP as a significant part of their work
  • Official RUPI Faculty: for experienced facilitators who teach Basics and Core publicly through RUPI, under a revenue share
  • Organizational Partnership: for organizations embedding RUP into their internal culture

Teaching inside your own organization? If you’re an owner, founder or employee getting certified to teach RUP within your own organization, an Organizational Partnership is the right fit. It includes certification for two internal staff and a complete curriculum package.Ā

Access to Facilitator Tools

As a Certification Member, you will have access to our library of updated slides, handouts, marketing materials, and other facilitation tools.

Listing on our Website

Your listing can include links to your own offerings. The RUPI website calendar is reserved for public programs offered by Official RUPI Faculty and sponsored by RUPI.

Online Group Discussions

Your program cohort will continue to have access to their own group on our website where you can continue to post and interact with your cohort members.

You will also have access to the Certified Facilitators Group with its own discussions, documents, etc. This is where you will access many of the Facilitator Tools.

Community of Practice

You will have access to a Monthly Community of Practice for Certified Facilitators. This CoP will have at least one RUPI Faculty member in attendance every month.

This Community of Practice is a place where you can bring issues that come up in your facilitation of RUP material. It will include elements like peer and faculty coaching, mini-trainings, workshopping issues, and connection.

Continuing Education

Continuing Education is a requirement if you are actively teaching RUP Basics and/or Core Training. It is included with your membership and involves regular updates to the curricula, new facilitator training sessions, and other topics.

Continuing Education will be offered in both live and asynchronous offerings.Ā

The CE requirement is 8 hours per year.

RUPI Faculty Assistantship Program

This Certification can lead you to begin the 12-month pilot pathway for graduates who feel called to become Licensed RUPI Faculty.

This program is a supported path built on real mentorship, supervised practice, and honest feedback, so that you can grow into facilitating with confidence and integrity.

  • An active Certified Practitioner License is required before you begin participant-facing assistant duties (you're welcome to apply while that's in progress).
  • Completing the assistantship is a prerequisite for Faculty consideration, but it doesn't guarantee a Faculty License or future placements.
  • Participation is fully voluntary. You can decline a placement, pause, or withdraw at any time without any impact on your access to other RUPI programs.
  • The assistantship is free.
  • Official RUPI Faculty have their offerings listed on the RUPI calendar and promoted through RUPI’s email and social channels, with registration handled by RUPI. RUPI retains 30% of training revenue.

Investment

Please note: It costs nothing to apply. We ask for payment (at the rate you choose) once you have been accepted into the program.

In our Facilitator Certification Program, participants will:

  • Deepen your understanding of the Basics and Core content and learn how to facilitate both trainings
  • Explore power differentials in facilitation and how to handle challenging interactions in a workshop
  • Learn how to facilitate with power-consciousness and liberatory facilitation skills
  • Examine your own power-shadow and how you can mitigate its effects during facilitation
  • Understand the Phases of Power-Consciousness and how to work with people in any phase
  • Practice co-creating environments of belonging
  • Learn how to design experiential education and embodied learning
  • Practice presenting RUP exercises with peers and coaches
  • Better understand how you participate in social power dynamics and deepen your own relationship with power.
