Our Core Training is a 4-day, live, online global learning experience that follows our Basics Training (which is a prerequisite for the Core Training). The Core Training is for people who are ready to dive deeper into all of the types of power. In the Right Use of Power™ approach, we explore our own relationship with power and increase our skill in navigating our personal and professional relationships.
In our Core Training, you will:
- Learn about the neurobiology of power and how to counteract the effects of our brains and bodies on power
- Explore role power differentials and learn how to handle challenging interactions when there is a power difference.
- Understand the importance of feedback and the difference between intention and impact.
- Start to understand the shadow aspects of power and how we can work with them.
- Learn how to work with conflict in power-conscious and generative ways.
- Better understand systemic power and how it influences the other types of power.
- Learn about shame and other emotional experiences that may impact our use of power
After our trainings, participants have said they can now:
- Be more ethically proactive around power dynamics.
- Engage their personal power with more awareness and presence.
- Be more aware of the shadow aspects of power.
- Lean into feedback and conflict with more skill and awareness of power.

The Right Use of Power Institute™ is an NBCC – Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPtm) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program (NBCC Provider #6736).
The Right Use of Power Institute™ is an ICF – Approved Continuing Education Provider. Our Core Program has received a total of 12 CEU credits:

Veronica Borgonovi
Veronica (she/her) is a seasoned organizational and project leader, manager, mentor, and coach, with experience supporting over 40 client projects in management and social sector consulting across multiple countries. She continues to guide a multi-year effort to transform organizational culture around equity and inclusion across multiple geographies, and is experienced in strategy development, evaluation and learning, facilitation, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
She is a certified coach through Leadership That Works, a graduate of Right Use of Power Institute’s teacher training, and a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory. She is also an experienced meditator and currently studying the application of Buddhist contemplative psychology toward psychosocial change efforts.
Marcia Burton
Marcia Burton (she/her) on Salt Spring Island, Canada. Marcia is a Certified Hakomi Practitioner and Senior Trainer, and a Certified Teacher and Practicum Trainer in Mindful Self-Compassion. Marcia has an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and has over 25 years of experience supporting individuals and families, experiencing the effects of bereavement, trauma, stress-related illness, cancer, mental health issues, and challenges in relationship. She also offers Clinical Supervision and Mentorship to counsellors, Hakomi students, and for those interested in the Right Use of Power. Marcia is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC.
Marcia is delighted to have found the Right Use of Power, and finds it to be a useful model for creating respectful relationships in all areas of her life. Marcia has completed the Right Use of Power’s Teacher Training, and brings a high degree of respect and awareness for power dynamics as they arise in relationships. She is committed to finding ways to build awareness of her own privilege, status and role power in her personal and professional life, and to support this growth in others. Marcia brings a combination of gentleness, compassion, humour and playfulness to her work. She is grateful to live on Salt Spring Island, with her husband and dog, on the west coast of Canada. She enjoys kayaking, gardening, writing poetry, and walking with her dog on the beach.
