I think I consider universal power as being “the ALL, the MORE, the field of consciousness. And spiritual power is a slice of this all that we humans are able to access more and less of in both “studied” and in spontaneous ways–like through the experience of awe. Let’s keep this going.

Hmmm. Good question. Philosophical. We are really just beginning to explore the concept of universal power in RUP. Trees, as an aspect of universal power, don’t make moral or ethical decisions…but they do seem to be organized around a symbiotic good for all. Hawks eat bunny rabbits, bad for the bunny, survival for the hawk, but not a moral decision. It gets complicated when we humans make decisions that are good for all (shine) now, but bad 7 generations from now (the shadow of not knowing the impact or not caring about the impact. This is actually a very deep religious question. Is it the case that universal power just IS with no shadow/shine and it is human beings and human-made systems that have shadow and shine?

Your responses help me go to further depth in my own self-awareness. I notice I enjoy being helpful, even when unsolicited. It’s like that’s my purpose in life! And not that that’s bad. But as you both point out, be more and more sensitive to when I’m wearing the scarf and when people are still responding to the scarf even if I have consciously taken it off. Good conversation.

Cedar here. I’m sorry your question may have gone unanswered for so long. Although this group in the website is designed to get answers to you quickly, we haven’t been monitoring it very frequently (obviously). So, to get a response to questions like this about a particular form or agreement, please email Dau, our Training Director, at [email protected], or our Administrator at [email protected]. And perhaps your question has already been answered!

Thanks for initiating this, Thea. Like Sarah, I mostly experience this “idealizing” from people down-power. You are seen by this woman as a celebrity. Can you acknowledge her appreciation/admiration of you and ask to focus on the program development and scheduling that you want to be doing. I’m also interested these days in how, as heart-centered leaders, to work with upholding the responsibilities of up-power role AND have appropriate boundaries and manage being a target for projections/needs/criticisms/idealization. Being a target can be so painful and challenging. How to have empathy and a certain distance or “coolness” in my responses at the same time. This is something it would be good to talk more about. Maybe a webinar for graduates.

Hi Thea, Thanks for initiating this through this form. We are hoping that our discussion option will become more and more used. And it takes initiatives like yours to get it going. Cedar
