DESCRIPTION:Right Use of Power™ is a dynamic\, inspiring\, and relational approach to the ethical use of power to promote well-being\, the common good and right relationship. We share a language and framework for understanding and navigating power with strength AND heart. \nThe Right Use of Power™ approach is a conscious ethics deep-dive and recognizes that the issues of power in relationships are complex. Our Right Use of Power™ programs focus on increasing skillfulness\, engagement\, and awareness in uses of power. It is ethics from the inside out. \nOur Basics Training is a 5-hour live\, online global learning experience for people who want to deepen their understanding of power and start to learn how to use power with strength and heart. Empowering\, relevant\, and dynamic\, our program is presented through engaging presentations\, facilitated discussions\, and experiential practices. \nIn our Basics Training\, you will: \n\nLearn about the five types of power side-by-side with people around the world in a connecting and conscious environment.\nExpand your understanding of the nuances of power\, which creates more room for complexity in relationships.\nDeepen your awareness of your own personal power and how it impacts others.\nGet an introduction to power differentials and their key aspects for better navigating relationships.\n\n  \nWhen: Friday\, August 15th\, 2025; 9:30am – 2:30pm MST (Denver USA) \n  \n(Due to the complexity of the time zones\, we are only sharing the Mountain Time Zone. Click here to see the hours in your own time zone) \nWhere: Online using Zoom (link will be provided after registration) \n  \nContinuing Education Credits (CEUs): \nThe Right Use of Power Institute™ is an NBCC – Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPtm) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. Driven by her core values of curiosity\, courage\, and connection\, Amanda is adept at putting things together in new ways\, creating visuals that help make learning more accessible\, and communicating complex ideas in simple ways. \nAmanda has a commitment to be courageous in the service of reducing and repairing harm in relationship and promoting the cultural shift toward power-and-equity consciousness\, conflict positivity and conflict competency. At the core of her academic and personal passion is the advancement in understanding social power dynamics and deepening the personal and collective uses of power in the world with wisdom and compassion. \nHer doctoral dissertation focused on the dynamics of shame and power in the justice system and she continues to develop theoretical models in the intrapersonal and interpersonal experiences of power dynamics\, including the integration of neurobiology\, contemplative practices and restorative practices as they relate to power differentials. \n  \nDr. Cedar Barstow\, Founder of the Right Use of Power Institute \n \nCedar (she/her) is a consultant and teacher on ethics and ethical issues. She has been designing\, developing\, and teaching this approach since 1994. Cedar’s background includes 30 years as a psychotherapist and 25 years as a teacher. \nShe is the author of books and articles on ethics\, counseling with elders\, women and independence\, and psychotherapy and spirituality. Cedar is also a Hakomi Experiential Psychology Trainer and a member of the Naropa University Adjunct Faculty. She maintains a private psychotherapy and ethics consulting practice in Boulder/Denver and teaches both Right Use of Power™ and Hakomi nationally and internationally. \nThe Right Use of Power™ educational materials and exercises were developed by Cedar over a period of 20 years and dozens of trainings. \nThese teachings have been influenced by many sources in Cedar’s background. She is particularly grateful for her extensive experiences as an administrator\, therapist\, and trainer of the the Hakomi Method of Experiential Psychotherapy\, chair of both the Hakomi Institute International Ethics Committee (HIEC) and the United States Association of Body Psychotherapy (USABP) Ethics Committee\, ethics expert contributor to GoodTherapy.org\, consultant to numerous organizations\, and ceremonialist with the Earth Song Ceremonial Dance Community.

DESCRIPTION:Our Core Training is a 5-day\, live\, online global learning experience that follows our Basics Training (which is a prerequisite for the Core Training). The Core Training is for people who are ready to dive deeper into all of the types of power. She is the owner and founder of All Thrive\, contributing author to the Art of Connection\, and the host of the weekly live show Your Mind-Your Reality-Your Results. She holds an applied degree in Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership (ETOL)\, and a diploma in Social Work\, both from Mount Royal University\, and is currently a registered social worker. Her work and volunteer experience have focused on helping people understand more about themselves and grow their confidence. This also includes working with youth in a wilderness-based addiction and mental health program. Later\, Leah went on to supervise that program\, where she focused on program development and growing her facilitation skills as she trained multiple staff teams. She is now the owner of All Thrive\, where she helps people and businesses develop their skillfulness in personal and professional relationships. She is certified in True Colors personality typology\, and the Right Use of Power (effectively using power dynamics).

Whether you’re still unpacking the types of power\, navigating up-power roles\, or working with feedback and repair\, you’re welcome here.
